Refurbish My Mill
We can refurbish or completely rebuild your Paul O. Abbe® process equipment. From a basic system check and replacement of bearings, seals, and gaskets to a complete overall and replacement of critical parts. We can also upgrade your equipment design to meet your latest process requirements and electrical classifications.
Refurbishing, rebuilding and even re-engineering your process equipment is often an economical way to bring equipment back to original operating specifications or modify and improved the design in terms of process efficiency and maintenance with the up-to-date materials, drives, high-efficiency motors, shaft seals, instrumentation, and controls.
Rebuilding process equipment starts by collecting information about the past operation of the equipment including the original process application, materials being processes, abrasiveness, densities, rheological properties, and solvents used in the process and in cleaning. Maintenance records and operation issues, wear, seal replacement, modifications, etc. Description of equipment problems or failures. What will be the future process parameters? Our knowledge or process and machine design will allow us to optimize the equipment for your process.
The next step is inspection of the equipment at our shop where we will perform a complete tear down of the equipment and perform an in-depth inspection including ultrasonic testing of shell thickness, X-ray diffraction identification of the alloys, dye penetrant tests for cracks, pressure testing and leak detection of jackets, shaft out of round and dimension measurements and seal and bearing condition.
After teardown and inspection, a detailed report with photos is submitted to the customer describing the wear and damage, causes if ascertainable and recommended repairs. The cost and time to make each of these aspects of the repair is the proposal which is part of the report.
The rebuild phase includes repairing, refurbishing, re-machining, or replacing components to bring the machine to full operational and reliable function.
Re-engineering the equipment may include anything from new motors and gear reducers to differ types of shaft sales, controls of various levels of automation or modifying feed ports, valves, and instrumentation.
