ROTA-CONE VACUUM DRYERS
Drum Loading & Discharge
The drum lift system is used to load and discharge a Rota-Cone with steel or fiber drums or containers. The drum lift system allows a single operator to fill and/or discharge a Rota-Cone from ground level or remote and with minimal dust.

System Includes:

  • Retractable roller assembly
  • Pneumatic lift pistons
  • Pneumatically actuated butterfly valve
  • Drum loading adapter flange
  • Drum discharging fill level sleeve
  • Pneumatic controls
  • Positioning disk with adjustable targets mounted on one trunnion
  • Proximity switches for measuring vessel position
  • Over the trunnion feed box on one trunnion for air feed supply
  • A/C inverter on main drive for slow-speed positioning of vessel

Loading and Discharge Sequence

Loading Sequence

  1. Position the drum on the retractable roller assembly beneath the butterfly valve and drum adapter flange. An adjustable stop centers the drum on the tray.
  2. When the operator is ready, the pneumatic lift is activated and retracts the roller tray and drum. The drum then seals to the gasketed adapter flange.
  3. After the drum is sealed, the Rota-Cone vessel is slowly rotated and at approximately 120°, the valve is automatically opened and the drum contents begin discharging. At 180°, the inverted drum is completely emptied and the valve is automatically closed.
  4. The vessel is again rotated 180° and the empty drum is disengaged from the adapter flange assembly, lowered and removed from the roller tray.

Discharge Sequence

  1. Position the drum on the retractable roller assembly beneath the butterfly valve and drum adapter flange. An adjustable stop centers the drum on the tray.
  2. When the operator is ready, the pneumatic lift is activated and retracts the roller tray and drum which then seals the drum to the gasketed adapter flange.
  3. The discharge valve is opened and the drum is filled to a predetermined level (fill level is controlled by an internal sleeve).
  4. The discharge valve is closed.
  5. The filled drum is disengaged from the adapter flange assembly, lowered and removed from the roller tray.

Vacuum Drying Facts

When sizing and specifying the correct vacuum and solvent recovery systems for your vacuum drying equipment, components must be sized for the peak vapor load, not for the average or total.
