SIGMA BLADE MIXERS

Batch mixers are widely used throughout the process industries for product applications that include solids to solids, liquid to solids, and paste materials mixing applications. Batch Mixers provide an efficient method of obtaining a homogeneous mix of most dry materials. Our batch mixers excel for industries including chemicals, plastics, metals, food, and drug. We offer several configurations with a variety of drives and discharge arrangements.

Batch Mixer Hydraulic Tilt
The basic Double Arm Sigma Blade Mixer with hydraulic tilt is defined for challenging, difficult viscous materials that require significant shear to effect a final mixture. This unit is furnished with the widest selection of standard features and options available in the industry. Rugged construction for rugged requirements.

  • Standard ASME jackets for heating (or cooling).
  • Capable of vacuum operation coincident with mixing or drying with optional cover kit.
  • Available from 1 Gallon to 900 Gallons.

"Low Boy" Design
The Lowboy Design as compared to the standard height mixer is unique in many ways. This unit will not require as much floor space or head room for installation. There is less need for structure platforms to load your product and the unit will tilt at drum height to unload. The compact unitized design allows installation of the Lowboy in areas that will not accommodate the standard height mixers. Ample room is provided through the gland area to facilitate the maintenance of all packing glands. The standard gearcase assures a smooth quiet operation. This unit can be furnished with a belt drive (up to 250 hp) or direct connected motor through the gearbox.

  • Unitized Design allows installation in areas unable to accommodate standard mixers.
  • Less need for structural supporting platforms.
  • Can be furnished with belt drive (up to 250 hp) or with direct connected motor and gearbox arrangement.
  • Still allows ample room to access gland area and perform maintenance of shaft packing.
  • Available in 300, 400, 500, and 600 Gallon Working Capacity.

Batch Mixer Bottom Dump
The Bottom Dump Mixer is one of the most economical mixers of its type built today, offering the advantage of discharging materials through a bottom door or valve. The unit can be built for vacuum operation and is suited for mixing and drying heat-sensitive products that go through a wide range of physical properties; such as from a liquid, to a plastic, and finally, to a powder.

  • Suitable for mixing and drying of heat-sensitive materials that undergo phase changes during processing, such as liquids to plastics to powders.
  • Flush bottom doors for complete mixing action.
  • Ease of maintenance is offered with the TriMaxTM drive arrangement.
  • Available in 150 to 900 Gallon Mixing Capacity.

Mixer Extruder
The Mixer Extruder (or “Mixtruder”) is a versatile Double Arm Mixer with a screw in the bowl bottom for unloading or extruding the mixed product. Available with the unique, low-maintenance TriMax gearbox (shown left – with no connecting gears) or arranged with totally independent drives allowing for infinite speed control and ratio between the blades and screw.

  • Lower maintenance costs result from the absence of connecting gears and the additional room provided to access the gland and packing areas outboard of the mixing shafts.
  • Elimination of the connecting gear case reduces floor space requirements.
  • Unitized construction eases installation costs.
  • Capable of mixing materials with viscosities in excess of 10,000,000 centipoise!
  • Available in Lab Pilot size up to 900 Gallon Working Capacity.

Mixing and Blending Facts

For some processes, the effects of heavy shear in combination with heat and vacuum will cause materials to experience phase changes during the mixing process.
